Raising one's voice is an important life skill.
It was difficult for me for several decades.
But with much effort I survived my self-consciousness.
Now I can give hearty impromptu toasts at wedding receptions, shout insults at drunks in pubs — whatever it takes.
Follow up
That last item, I exaggerated.
First, here in the US, we have bars, not pubs.
Second, I'm not much a drinker.
Third, I don't shout insults at drunks or anyone else. It's a bad idea, and out of character for me.
But I'm confident that I *could* shout insults *if I had to*.
