Post-nation-state worldview

Humanity began in small groups, which became villages, cities, city-states, kingdoms, empires, and, in our time, nation-states.

The long term pattern of civilzation is larger groups, larger numbers of people who are Us and not Them.

It stands to reason that the next stage is post-nation-state.

No single nation-state can "lead", because "leadership" by a single nation-state is old-style nation-state thinking.

Civilization as we know it has already ended

People worry about the end of civilization as we know it.

This is foolish.

Civilization as we know it has already ended.

Wedding Horns

3:26 pm: Sound of honking horns, two or three cars, from a couple of blocks away. Must be a wedding -- the honking has that happy-honk quality of the Just Married Motorcade. I'll bet there were cans tied to the Newlyweds' car, though I was too far away to tell.
